Sensitisation towards Dogri Culture through Storytelling

Visual Communication

Abstract

This paper aims to investigate the current state of affairs of Dogri culture. There has been a lack of development of the dogri language, which has affected the propagation of the folk-art and storytelling to the newer generations. The museum housing the folk-paintings today, which was the Dogra palace before, is also in a bad state. The heritage, cultural and built, has been falling slowly because of the reduced empathy. This results in a need for sensitisation towards their own culture, and to instill a sense of belonging. Storytelling was chosen as a medium as the beauty of dogri lies in its songs, stories, and art. The project also tries to change some stories to make them more contemporary and consumable by the newer generations.
