Abstract

Census is a decennial process by the Government, and every census is very different due to the gap in the time of conduction. Therefore, the changes lead to the formulation of a completely new framework for every census.
Social, bureaucratic and technological changes lead to several reformations in the conduction of census. One such redesign opportunity is the use of technological intervention, specifically in the field of data collection as the phase of data collection has yet used traditional methods.
Henceforth, designing an intervention to aid the on-field data collection activity, targeting enumerators as the users were identified as the problem. The project aims for the design and development of a mobile-based application aiding the on-field data collection work of enumerators of the Census of 2021.
Objectives were set to devising the interfaces for the two sub-phases for the on-field activity, the first phase encompassing Layout Mapping along with Houselisting activity and the second phase encompassing the very crucial activity of Population Enumeration. Case Studies of other countries’ census and secondary & primary research was conducted to understand the journey of the target user.
